Winter is sneaking up on us! The clocks have gone back, and the Halloween candy is flowing, so how do we keep our tools safe through this season? We’ve got some tips and tricks up our sleeve to help you keep your tools safe and shiny.
Keen and Clean
The top tip we can ever give anybody is to keep their tools clean when not in use- especially if you work seasonally and store it away in the wintertime. Make sure it is clean and maintained to avoid the effects of harsh weather like rain and snow. Remember prevention is always better than the cure.
Applying a small amount or grease or appropriate oil to your tools each night will help them stave off any potential damage. Keep proper use instructions in full view when grabbing any tools, you haven’t used in a while e.g. Tools that have wooden handles may need a soak before use.
Pack away right
If you are going to pack away your tools for the winter season, make sure you follow the right maintenance procedures to ensure long life.
Safety is paramount
With so many tools stored together over a long time period make sure it is in a safe place and is properly insured in case anything untoward did happen!
If you are looking for more advise on how to maintain your tools or looking to add to your stock of tools- walk into one of our BMCo branches and talk to our staff. We would be happy to help you upgrade over a lovely cuppa!
